Andreia Gibau of Massachusetts Crowned Miss Earth United States 2017

Presented by EarthWater, the national competition will air this fall on the Dish Network B4UTV Channel 716.
Age 22, Gibau recently graduated from St. John’s University in New York with a degree in public relations. She previously held the title of Miss Teen United States and was first runner up at Miss New York USA 2017.
Managed by Carousel Productions of the Philippines, Miss Earth focuses on empowering women through fashion, leadership, travel and service opportunities. Delegates advocate for environmental awareness and protection of the Earth while showcasing various tourist destinations. This past October, Katherine Espin of Ecuador was crowned Miss Earth in Manila, Philippines. For three consecutive years, the United States has ranked in the Top 4 at the international competition.
Gibau will attend Miss Earth 2017 for four weeks this fall. Nearly 100 national delegates will participate at the highly anticipated competition at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines. Throughout her reign, Gibau will travel extensively in the United States to model for brands such as Mac Duggal and Pixton Design, as well as support environmental campaigns for organizations including Climate Reality and World Missions Outreach.
Gibau says she competes in pageants, “To give me a voice to inspire and talk about things that I believe in.” She will dedicate time to visiting schools around the country teaching ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The national competition included categories such as interview, multimedia, public speaking, swimwear, runway and evening gown. 45 delegates competed at events in the nation’s capital and surrounding regions.
First runner up was Ashley Wade of the District of Columbia, second runner up Iman Brown of California, and third runner up Sydney Wharton of Texas. The national director of Miss Earth United States is Laura Clark, owner of Beauty Beyond Borders, Inc. in Washington, DC.
Special guests and judges included Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin and previous Miss Earth United States winner Amanda Pennekamp, Lisa Forbes and Andrea Neu. Hosts were Miss Earth Water 2015 Brittany Ann Payne and Steven Roddy of the Pageant Planet.
