Washington, D.C. – A new USA representative for Miss Earth will be crowned on Monday, August 1 in the nation’s capital. 50 delegates will participate in activities beginning July 29, judged by former winners of Miss USA, Miss America and Miss Earth.

2016 national judges include 2002 Miss USA Shauntay Hinton; 2011 Miss America Teresa Scanlan; 2007 Miss Earth Jessica Trisko-Darden, PhD; 2015 Pageant Fitness Trainer of the Year John Morris; The Pageant Planet’s Stephanie McGrane; CEO of Planet Beach Spa Stephen P. Managed by Carousel Productions of the Philippines, Miss Earth focuses on empowering women through fashion, leadership, travel and service opportunities. Delegates advocate for environmental awareness and protection of the Earth while showcasing various tourist destinations. Miss Earth is known as one of the most relevant pageants and the second largest, drawing nearly 100 national representatives each year to compete for the title. As 2015 Miss Earth, Angelia Ong serves as a global ambassador to organizations including the United Nations Environment Programme.

In January, Carousel Productions announced the new franchise ownership, US Earth Productions, Inc under the directorship of Laura Clark of Washington, DC. Clark has worked six years in the pageant industry and previously was an NFL cheerleader.

State delegates were selected based on leadership skills, photographs, interview, and pageant or modeling experience. They represent their state or region throughout the year, appearing in the community as well as fashion and media events.

National activities include environmental activism on the National Mall, presentation by Climate Reality Leaders, training with Holistic Lifestyle Coach Zoe Torres and Mac Duggal photo shoot with AllyKat Photography. Competitions open to the public including speaking, runway featuring designs by Mac Duggal, swimwear featuring pieces by Vizcaya and Pixton Design Group, and personal evening gown. The delegates are also evaluated on judge interview, multimedia, photogenic and community video.

“People do not realize the extensive work that goes into preparing for a pageant of this caliber,” says National Director Laura Clark. “We consider the national experience to be a showcase and celebration of these delegates. They are representing their states and regions at the highest level of pageant competition.”

During the final coronation presented by EarthWater on August 1, 2016 Miss Earth United States Brittany Ann Payne will conduct her farewell after a monumental year. Payne was the second USA representative to place in Miss Earth’s coveted top four at the international competition, where she was named Miss Earth-Water in Vienna, Austria and first place Eco-Beauty video.

The winner of Miss Earth United States will spend the next two months touring the USA including visits to New York City, Las Vegas, and Chicago. This fall, she will represent the nation at the 16th annual Miss Earth competition, with the final coronation televised globally to millions of viewers. She will hold the title for one year, and if named Miss Earth, will travel extensively worldwide throughout her reign. In addition to the winner, a Top 4 will be named and receive a prize package.

US Earth Productions, Inc offers the supporting divisions of Elite Miss age 26-32, Teen Miss age 14-18 and Junior Miss age 11-14. The winners of these titles serve as an extension of the Miss Earth mission while also receiving prizes.
