Washington, D.C. – Lindsey Coffey of Pennsylvania has been named Miss Earth USA 2020 during the final national competition aired August 8 on Pageant Planet. Coffey will represent the USA at the 20th Anniversary Miss Earth international competition this fall.

Age 28, Coffey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Communication Arts and is working toward a Juris Doctor degree. She has visited six continents to study global social, political and economic history. She ranks as one of the best collegiate high jumpers in the state of Pennsylvania. Coffey has found great success as a high fashion model, signed to agencies in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles.

Managed by Carousel Productions of the Philippines, Miss Earth focuses on empowering women, promoting eco-tourism and aiding environmental causes around the globe. Nearly 100 delegates known as “beauties for a cause” represent their nations during the highly anticipated two month virtual competition, with the coronation taking place on November 29, 2020.

Last year’s Miss Earth USA representative Emanii Davis of Georgia matched the highest placement ever earned for the USA, ranking as first runner up at the 2019 Miss Earth competition in the Philippines. The overall Miss Earth winner was Nelly Pimentel of Puerto Rico.

Miss Earth is the only major pageant holding a virtual program this year. Other notable international pageants, such as Miss World, have postponed events until 2021 due to CoVid-19 pandemic restrictions.

Likewise, the USA national program was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas; however, with just three weeks notice, the competition was restructured as a virtual production. All competition segments were self-produced by the candidates, and the final pageant and coronation were broadcast on August 8.

As Miss Earth USA, Coffey aims to encourage Americans to make small daily changes to counteract the damage of climate change. She will serve as spokesperson for The Clean Earth Project in preparation for Clean Up the World Weekend in September. Coffey will also be the face of a voter registration campaign for She Votes, Inc. She will model for corporate partners such as ASHLEYlauren, HOTWORX and Pixton Design, and will appear on the cover of Pageantry Magazine and Art & Beauty Magazine.

The national competition included categories such as community service, interview, multimedia, swimwear, runway and evening gown. State delegates are selected through application and interview or by winning a regional pageant. Judges are notable pageant experts Bill Alverson, producer of Insatiable on Netflix; Candiace Dillard, cast member of Real Housewives on Bravo; Shiela DeForest, former International Eco Mrs. and Mrs. Philippines; Kimberly Pixton Millar, fashion designer; and Thom Brodeur, former CEO of Yandy.com.

Miss Earth USA top 5 national court is rounded out by Shannon Lynch of the District of Columbia, Autumn Adams of Georgia, LeighAnna Kingvalsky of Louisiana, and Alexandra Curtis of Rhode Island. The national director of Miss Earth USA is Laura Clark, owner of Beauty Beyond Borders, Inc. 501(c)3 charitable organization, based in Northern Virginia.
