Washington, D.C. – Hello 2020 and happy 20th anniversary to the Miss Earth Organization! It has been a whirlwind four years since our team was invited to lead the USA national franchise. Through this message, I aim to recap our achievements and showcase upcoming initiatives for the Miss Earth USA program.

Thank you to all who have wholeheartedly committed to the Miss Earth USA organization: the National Board of Directors, Regional & State Directors, Current & Former Titleholders, Titleholder Parents & Family, Corporate & Community Partners, Fans, and Media. Thank you to Carousel Productions for trusting our expertise in managing one of the largest national programs for Miss Earth. I am humbled every day by the continuous support for our mission to empower women and positively impact the planet.

A LOOK BACK

Since 2016, the USA national organization has:

  • Earned industry awards as top international pageant, top national pageant, best national director, best "Miss" titleholder

  • Appeared on national media including the DISH Network and Univision

  • Enrolled over 150 delegates annually across multiple divisions

  • Established quality relationships with corporate and community partners

  • Transitioned to 501c3 status via the official charitable extension of Beauty Beyond Borders, Inc

  • Placed Top 4 at Miss Earth, earning two international elemental titles of Miss Earth Fire 2016 and Miss Earth Air 2019

  • Won Miss Teen Earth 2016, Ms. Earth 2017, Ms. Earth Air 2018, Teen Face of the World 2019, and Mrs. Earth 2019

  • Coordinated New York Fashion Week runway events exclusively for Miss Earth USA titleholders

  • Enabled every Miss Earth USA to model at a major fashion event including New York Fashion Week, Atlanta Market, Miami Swim Week, as well as appear on the cover of magazines including Crowned, World Class Beauty Queens, and Art & Beauty.

  • Welcomed a current or former Miss Earth to each national pageant, including Angelia Ong, Katherine Espin, Jamie Herrell, Phuong Khanh Nguyen, and Alyz Henrich

  • Carried out multiple charitable mission trips to Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, Nevada and California

  • Grown Regional Directorships to offer over 50% of titles via an official regional or state pageant

In these four years, I have experienced many hard lessons as well as exciting moments as a national director. Initially, I believed our success would be measured through television, fashion and glamour. I worked hard to establish branding, provide modeling opportunities and gain media attention. Since then, there have been many changes not only in American pageantry, but also in our world as a whole. In 2020, our society needs environmental ambassadors and pageantry needs an organization committed to service.

CHARGING AHEAD TO THE FUTURE

Today, as a mother and leader of an environmental service and women's empowerment organization, I believe our priorities must enable delegates to take part in acts of leadership. Sometimes, these acts will include a runway, evening gown, swimsuit or television appearance. Most of the time, you will see us doing work, learning about our world, and using this platform to encourage others.

In 2020, we prioritize the following initiatives:

  • Puerto Rico Restoration: In February, titleholders and staff will carry out the fourth annual mission to serve the islands.

  • Australia Fire Awareness: Miss Earth Air Emanii Davis will represent the organization during New York Fashion Week at the ReGen Runway event on February 7-8.

  • California Project: Our 2020 fund raising campaign will focus on serving the areas stricken by wildfire, sending titleholders to the state to rebuild and raise awareness.

  • Schools Program: In association with the Earth Day Network, Miss Earth Air Emanii Davis, a graduate student in school counseling, will lead our commitment to empower youth to become responsible citizens of Earth. State titleholders will be given tools to engage with schools in their communities.

  • 50th Anniversary of Earth Day: We have partnered with the Great Global Cleanup and Garbo Grabber to plan multiple events from coast to coast during the month of April. Events will include national, state and local titleholders from all divisions.

  • She Votes: 2020 is an important year for the United States, as we take part in the US Presidential Election and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in all states. She Votes, Inc will train each of our delegates to campaign for voter registration and promote voting in a nonpartisan way.

  • Think Global, Act Local: Miss Earth USA delegates actively participate in their choice of community environmental events.

  • Corporate Partnerships: Thank you to corporate partners including ASHLEYlauren, Pixton Design Group, Flirt Prom & Pageant, Garbo Grabber, HOTWORX, The Sash Company and others who are working to make the 2020 program a success. As a newly recognized 501c3 organization, we hope to connect with more corporations committed to our planet.

  • Recognition & Scholarship: In order to provide maximum recognition of our hard working delegates, we will award various medal challenge winners and an environmental scholarship during the national pageant. Additionally, we aim to engage national and state titleholders with many leadership opportunities throughout the year.

  • 20th Anniversary Celebration: We stand hand in hand with Miss Earth to celebrate a milestone 20th year of Beauties for a Cause. Our efforts include the Eco Angels Runway Competition & Awards Show during the 2020 national pageant in Las Vegas on July 16. Additionally, we will release a new national crown to commemorate this milestone year.

  • Fairness & Transparency: Once again, we will partner with Tally Genie to tabulate scoring for the selection of our national titleholders. Scoring components are clearly outlined and consider a variety of categories from community service to personality to modeling skills. Each year, we challenge a diverse, passionate, expert judging panel to select the most well-rounded delegates to serve in national titles.

  • Miss Earth 2020: Our national representative will enjoy the experience of a lifetime representing the USA for 4 weeks at Miss Earth. Our other divisional national winners Mrs., Elite Miss & Teen Miss Earth USA will also compete internationally.

I believe that in the years ahead, we can continue to rise by remaining true to our mission while offering a unique, positive experience for delegates. Thank you again for your constant support and commitment!
