Manila, Philippines, October 26, 2019 – Emanii Davis of Valdosta, Georgia rallied to the elite top four of this year’s Miss Earth pageant. Placing first runner up, Davis was named Miss Air. Davis represented the USA among 85 national delegates during four weeks of activities in the Philippines.
This achievement matches the highest placement of USA in the Miss Earth competition in its 19 year history, which was also achieved by Andrea Neu of Colorado in 2014.
Miss Earth is one of the largest and most watched pageants on the planet. The final coronation on October 26 was held at the Okada Hotel & Casino in Manila and televised worldwide on FOX Life, ABS-CBN, Globovision and TFC.
Puerto Rico’s Nellys Pimentel was named the winner, crowned by outgoing titleholder Nguyen Phuong Khanh of Vietnam. Rounding out the Top 4 were Czech Republic’s Klara Vavruskova as Miss Water and Belarus’s Alisa Manyonok as Miss Fire. Additional nations in the Top 10 were Chile, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland and Russia.
On June 30, Davis was selected to represent the USA out of 50 state representatives at the 2019 national competition in Las Vegas. Age 25, she is an environmentalist and graduate student at Valdosta State University in Georgia. She has previously competed at Miss USA and Miss World America.
Managed by Carousel Productions of the Philippines, Miss Earth focuses on empowering women, impacting environmental efforts and promoting ecotourism. Throughout October, delegates traveled to all corners of the Philippines to conduct community aid such as visiting schools, planting trees, and cleaning beaches. The ultimate selection of finalists and winners is based on Intelligence, Beauty of Face, and Healthy Figure.
Davis will return to the USA to resume her studies while supporting environmental causes, such as overseeing a school recycling program and managing a community greenhouse. She will crown the next USA representative during the 2020 national contest on July 18 in Las Vegas. As Miss Air, Davis will have the opportunity to travel to other countries for environmental work and Miss Earth national pageants.
Miss Earth USA is managed by the not for profit 501(c)3 organization Beauty Beyond Borders, Inc. based in Virginia under the direction of Laura Clark. The national program offers divisions for ages 5-59.
